In the BEGINNING There Were...

In 2008, after dedicated careers with the government, Peter and Rebecca Thieme decided to retire and move to the Winnsboro, Texas area.  Not long after moving in to a lovely country home, Peter established a vineyard with 210 Muscadine "roots". With a lot of sweat equity and some needed good luck and weather, the vineyard thrived.

In 2012, we were blessed to acquire 50 acres directly across from the vineyard.  The property had an older farm home that we renovated (with A LOT OF TLC) and the Bella Stella Winery was established in October 2013.  We offer four hand-crafted Muscadine wines:  Sweet Red; Sweet White; Muscadine Medley (sweet blend); Semi-sweet Red. And the newest member of the family, Bella Blue, our premium Blueberry Wine.  We also offer a variety of other fine Texas wines. Go Texan or Go Thirsty!

Opa's Kitchen is co-located with the winery, serving authentic German/Bavarian specialties along with weekly entrees.  You must try our wurst and schnitzel dishes, and apfel strudel with warm vanilla pudding.  Wunderbar!

So as our roots get deeper and our vines stronger we welcome you to join us on our wonderful journey.  Sit and enjoy a glass of refreshing Muscadine wine and some tasty wurst with good company.  Oh, and don't forget to look up at the night sky; we are sure you will find the true meaning of Bella Stella.

Opa's Kitchen is proud to serve authentic Bavarian cuisine.

Our Wurst is the Best!
